This here is the refreshed 2011 CL-Class, which despite the rumors, doesn’t adopt the S-Class Coupe moniker as part of Mercedes-Benz’s new nomenclature that started with the new E-Class Coupe that replaced the CLK. For its mid-life facelift, the CL coupe has received a mild redesigned and a new bi-turbo V8 engine.

Visual updates include a redesigned front bumper housing LED strips with chrome surrounds for the daytime running lights, a reshaped hood, new headlamps and a more V-shaped grille.

The LED turn indicators and position marker lamps along with the reprofiled rear bumper and newly-designed tail lamps round off the exterior changes.

Inside, the higher-quality trim materials and new color options are matted with redesigned multifunction wood/leather steering wheel steering and additional ambient light spots.

Under the bonnet, there’s a new 4.7-liter bi-turbocharged V8 engine with BlueDIRECT technology for the CL500 (CL550 for North America), which comes with a revised version of Mercedes-Benz’s seven-speed automatic gearbox with an integrated stop-start system and brake energy recuperation.

The eight-cylinder unit produces 429HP, a 12 percent increase in power over its predecessor, which had an output of 382HP. At the same time, torque was raised from 391 lb-ft to 516 lb-ft, an increase of 32 percent.

Furthermore, the new V8 engine achieves a 10-15% improvement in fuel economy and 23% improvement in CO2 emissions.

The CL500 / CL550 4MATIC requires 4.9 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h (62mph), a 0.5 second improvement over the previous model.

The range also includes the CL600, with its 510HP 12-cylinder biturbo engine and 612 lb-ft. of torque that accelerates the luxury coupé from a standstill to 100km/h (62mph) mph in a 4.5 seconds. Top speed on both models is electronically limited at 250km/h (155mph).

For buyers needing more power, Mercedes will debut the new CL63 AMG and CL65 AMG models later this year.

Among the many tech highlights is a new Active Lane Keeping Assist safety feature that utilizes a camera mounted on the inside of the windshield and a radar system that scans the side of the roadway, to gently apply the brakes when the driver steers away from his lane.

The 2011MY CL-Class will make its market debut in Autumn of 2010.

2011 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD – Short Take Road Test

2011 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD – Short Take Road Test

If you want to gauge how successful a minivan is, just talk to the occupants of the second-row seats. If they say they would be happy to schlep across the country in the vehicle, you know that the van’s maker got the recipe just about right. That was the case with my 12-year-old twins as they lounged in the reclining captain’s chairs in the Sienna XLE, viewing their favorite media on a large, 16.4-inch-wide screen.

The previous Toyota Sienna wasn’t a bad vehicle, but it wasn’t as good to drive or as well-packaged as the Honda Odyssey. This latest van rides on the same 119.3-inch wheelbase as the outgoing Sienna, but is 0.8 inch shorter and 0.8 inch wider (coming in at 200.2 inches and 78.2 inches, respectively). It is the same height overall, though, at 68.9 inches. We would describe the redesign as distinctive, but the front end is pretty brutal.

A Used Car for You

Written by nitram on June 11, 2010

Buying used cars is something that a large number of people do at some points in their lives, because of the price and quality of such vehicles. There are thousands of used cars for sale in a number of places, including on sites on the internet and from local dealers –customers will be spoilt for choice once they start on the search for good quality used cars.
Buying used cars is a viable alternative to getting brand new vehicles for a very large number of people. Used cars present a good alternative because of their price, and because of the fact that a number of people often upgrade their cars regularly, in order to have the latest model. People who are not concerned with having the most modern brand of car can often find a very good deal, and buying a car that is a couple of years old is usually a very good idea – the quality of these cars is likely to be very sufficient, almost as much so as brand new cars.
In terms of security, buying a good quality used car from a dealership might be the best bet for customers. This is because buying from a dealership that makes its business from this very thing means customers will be given the best possible service. Another option is to buy from a website, of which there are a very great number available. There are thousands of good quality vehicles on these sites that are just waiting to be bought by customers. These sites are often run by dealerships, giving an extra level of security and peace of mind for the person buying the car. It’s also worth noting the peace of mind that certain insurance suppliers – such as carole nash insurance consultants – can provide for used car buyers.
Buying a used car is often the best option for customers – just browsing through the cars available will provide greater choice for the right budget.

2011 Renault Latitude brings back conventional style to premium segment

Written by nitram on June 9, 2010

Renault LatitudeRenault has lifted the covers off a new flagship sedan named Latitude that will in effect replace the discontinued (and rather controversial) Vel Satis.

Described by the French carmaker as “its latest international status-enhancing family saloon” [sic..], the Latitude will get its first public outing at the Moscow Motor Show at the end of August, while Europeans will get their first view of the car at this Fall’s 2010 Paris Motor Show.

For those of you that keep a close eye on global automotive news, the new Latitude won’t come as a surprise as it’s based on the Renault Group’s 2010 Samsung SM5 sedan that recently went on sale in South Korea. And by “based”, we mean re-badged and VW- re-grilled… [see pictures of the SM5 below]

Built on a modified version of the Laguna’s platform, Renault’s new flagship model features a conventional four-door sedan body instead of a five-door fastback form like it’s 25, Safrane (not the Samsung-based Safrane) and Vel-Satis predecessors

Renault LatitudeThe Latitude measures 4.890mm in length, 1.830mm in width and 1.490mm in height, meaning it’s 195mm longer, 19mm wider and 45mm taller than the Laguna hatch.

Renault has not yet released details on the engine range, but motorists should expect the usual mix of petrol and diesel engines.

The French automaker said that the Latitude will be offered with a variety of features that place the emphasis “on innovation and travelling comfort”, including a dual-mode air ionizer with double fragrance diffuser, triple-zone climate control, a massaging driver’s seat, Bose Premium audio, the Renault hands-free card and more.

According to the company, the Latitude is due to go on sale this autumn in Asia, Africa, Russia, Turkey, Gulf, Australia and Mexico, with Europe to follow shortly after.

Bentley says shooting brake a possibility?

Written by nitram on May 27, 2010

Bentley shooting brake conceptThe Porsche 918 Spyder might’ve been our pick of the Geneva Motor Show, but the consensus on which vehicle we’d drive home was unanimous: The Bentley Continental-based Flying Star.

As many of you have pointed out, we’ve got a undying love of all things shooting brake, so the Flying Star lit up all the right nerve endings. And apparently, we aren’t alone.

Car and Driver spoke with Stuart McCullough during the launch of the Mulsanne and when asked about the possibility of a Bentley-built hatch, the Volkswagen board member said, “We have an idea in the back of our minds that we may yet bring to market.”

That’s far from a confirmation and it’s doubtful that a Continental-derived shooting brake is coming, particularly when you consider that the GT is due for a refresh. However, something based on the Mulsanne’s underpinnings could replace the aging Continental, and Bentley is sure to be considering other body styles when that model arrives within the next few years
